Doug Cook is a multi-disciplinary filmmaker — director, cinematographer, editor, and designer. His work spans commercials, documentary, and narrative storytelling, blending live action, virtual production, miniatures, stop-motion, and stylized cinematography into imaginative, emotionally resonant stories with texture, warmth, and soul.

Doug’s commercial and branded work includes collaborations with Hasbro, IMAX, Onewheel, WestJet, Honens, Sport Chek, and other national and international organizations. His portfolio ranges from short films and micro-documentaries to commercial campaigns, each grounded in cinematic craft and authentic emotion.

In 2023, Doug was selected as one of eight Canadian directors to attend the Directors Guild of Canada’s Virtual Production Workshop — an experience that led to Look Up.

A fully virtual short that premiered at the Spark Animation Festival in Vancouver. His stop-motion music video Float Away earned Best Music Video at the 2023 Rosie Awards, and his marionette-driven short Old Dragon Man screened at the Calgary International Film Festival.

Most recently, Doug directed The Complete Artist, a miniature film commissioned by the Honens International Piano Competition. The project earned three Rosie Awards, including Best Director, Best Promotional Production, and Best Production Designer — marking one of the most celebrated handcrafted films of his career.

Whether building intricate worlds or capturing genuine human moments, Doug approaches every project with curiosity, precision, and heart — crafting visuals that inspire imagination and resonate with authenticity.
