Douglas Cook is a Calgary-based director and cinematographer known for crafting visually distinctive, tactile-driven films that blend practical artistry with cinematic storytelling. His work spans commercials, music videos, and narrative projects, often combining in-camera techniques with emerging technologies.

He was recently selected as one of eight Canadian directors to attend a Directors Guild of Canada virtual production workshop in Vancouver, and has directed projects utilizing LED volume environments including the music video 12 Chains by Atomis and commercial work with Beama Visual Environments. His virtual production short film Look Up, featuring a puppet-driven performance, was an Official Selection at the Spark Animation Festival.

Douglas’s handcrafted promotional work for Honens earned three Rosie Awards, including Best Director, Best Production Designer, and Best Promotional Production. His short puppet film Old Dragon Man was an Official Selection at the Calgary International Film Festival, while Take A Seat screened at the Edmonton International Film Festival, and Float Away (Stop-Motion) won Best Music Video at the Alberta Film and Television Awards.
