Audiences have come to recognize his signature style, whether it has sci-fi, futuristic or mysterious themes. Doug's attention to detail in prop-use and production design elevate his work to the highest standard, and regardless of budget, his final product always reflects innovation and meticulousness.
Above all, the key to Doug's success is his talent of bringing a message, melody, lyric or story to life in a way that's inventive and a natural reflection of the music, artist or organization. His technical competence, bold visual interpretations, and unusual use of props, along with his collaborative process and professionalism have distinguished him as a unique director in Alberta.
This past summer Doug directed Calgary's well established heavy rock band Kobra and The Lotus and their electric re-make of the song "Black Velvet," originally performed by Canadian artist Alannah Myles. In June Doug produced and directed the progressive metal band Every Hour Kills and their ferocious new single "Almost Human" via TELUS Storyhive funding.
Doug is currently screening his stop-motion and live-action mixed short film "Burning All The Past Away" at the Calgary Underground Film Festival (CUFF) and Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo this April. The film took home "Best Short Film" at The Edmonton Short Film Festival.
