SHARING WITH THE NEXT WAVE OF STORYTELLERS

I was recently invited back to SAIT by Tyler Lemermeyer to speak with his class—a generous and energizing group of emerging storytellers. It’s always a joy to share space with passionate students, and this visit was no exception.

This time around, our conversation dove into some of the bigger questions facing filmmakers today, especially the rise of A.I. in the industry. There’s a lot of uncertainty right now—and understandably, a lot of fear. But I shared my perspective: rather than seeing A.I. as something that will take our jobs, maybe we can see it as a form of healthy competition. Another tool in our creative toolbox. Something that, if approached thoughtfully, can actually elevate the way we tell stories.

My advice? Find your own positive spin. The industry is evolving, and clinging to fear only slows you down. Stay curious, adapt, and lead with creativity.

We also explored Virtual Production—a world I’ve become increasingly immersed in—as well as the process behind creating spec ads and music videos. It was a wide-ranging discussion, and one that left me inspired.

Big thanks to Tyler and the students for having me. These sessions always remind me why I do what I do.
