PRODUCTION FOR HONENS AT CONTEMPORARY CALGARY

We brought the Honens miniature world to life inside the remarkable space at Contemporary Calgary. It was, without a doubt, one of the most rewarding and inspiring experiences of my career to date.

Production ran smoothly, but what truly elevated the week was the environment itself. Contemporary Calgary—once an observatory—sparked a powerful sense of nostalgia for me. I have a faint memory of visiting the building on an elementary school field trip, back when its domed roof held the wonder of the stars. I never imagined I’d return years later, camera in hand, directing a film in the very same space.

Throughout the week, many visitors stopped by our set—curious passersby, staff, and guests—and every one of them had something kind to say. Seeing so many faces light up with joy and wonder as they took in the detail and creativity of the miniatures was an unexpected and deeply rewarding part of the experience. It reminded us just how powerful storytelling and craftsmanship can be.

To create something so intricate and meaningful in a place that once ignited my imagination as a child was a full-circle moment I’ll never forget. A true highlight, and a milestone in this journey of storytelling through miniatures
