We all had goosebumps watching the public debut of the miniature film. This week, Amanda Smith, CEO of Honens International Piano Competition, announced the 2025 semifinalists—and in a humbling moment, graciously included producer Chris Krieger and me in her thank yous, recognizing our work on the campaign.

For the past six months, you’ve been watching us bring four handcrafted dioramas to life—each one representing a chapter in the artist’s journey. Now, it’s your turn to peek inside and discover the stories they tell. This week, Honens announced the 2025 Semifinalists at Contemporary Calgary. As guests entered the theatre, they were greeted by the dioramas featured in the upcoming promotional film The Complete Artist.

Production took place at Contemporary Calgary, a space I first visited on a childhood field trip. Returning there as a filmmaker was deeply inspiring. As we set up the dioramas, visitors stopped by with wide-eyed wonder, soaking in every detail. I was touched by how much joy they brought to people of all ages. It became clear this project was more than art—it was a shared experience, and one of the most unexpectedly fulfilling moments of my career.

In a concert hall, a grand piano takes centre stage beneath the spotlight, echoing with the promise of a moment that transforms an artist's life—a place where potential meets possibility, and every note tells a story that resonates far beyond the stage.

Here, talent is fostered and allowed to flourish, while exploration leads to fresh interpretations and uncharted horizons. An elegant recording studio bathed in sunlight reveals a majestic grand piano—a sanctuary where pianists refine their craft, experiment fearlessly, and discover new depths of expression.

Tiny instruments, music stands, stackable chairs, backpacks, and of course, the piano, come together to capture the essence of a late '90s music classroom—a place where young minds were nourished, talents flourished, and dreams took root.

Sunlight spills across the piano, where brilliance is first discovered, supported, and set free. A universal stage where a young pianist's dreams take flight, whispering of the grand adventures that await just beyond the horizon.
