Modern tech to enhance Handcrafted Filmmaking, not replace it.

One of the things I've enjoyed most while developing The Smolderkin is bringing these prototype puppets from an idea in my mind to the camera.

The process has taken me through 3D printing, airbrushing, wood carving, wire armatures, sculpting, sewing, and plenty of trial and error. Every technique has helped shape the characters, but the biggest lessons only came once they stepped in front of the camera. That's where they truly begin to evolve.

Each test reveals something new, whether it's improving the way a joint moves, refining a silhouette, or discovering how light and performance bring a character to life.

I'm looking forward to taking the next step and exploring how these handcrafted puppets can work alongside virtual production to expand the world of The Smolderkin even further.

The journey continues...
