Wait, what??? IMAX is a Canadian invention?
CanaMAX is a micro-documentary that uncovers the origin story of the world’s most immersive film format and celebrates the fact that it’s proudly Canadian. For now, we’re creating Episode One, titled “Wait, what?” capturing the energy, curiosity, and cinematic spirit of what we hope will become a larger project.

Shot guerrilla style with a social media sensibility yet crafted with a cinematic touch, the film follows Christine as she dives into the IMAX origin story. Armed only with an iPhone and contagious enthusiasm, she steps inside one of only thirty remaining 70mm IMAX projection booths, using playful visual metaphors and side-by-side comparisons that make the technical feel tangible and fun.

CanaMAX is a love letter to IMAX, to Canada, and to Canadian innovation.
